Difference between LED screen and LCD screen

LCD and LED although the word is only different, but the actual meaning is very different, strictly speaking, LED belongs to a kind of LCD. Compared with traditional LCD, LED has many advantages such as high brightness, wide color gamut, fast response, independent switching and no harmful mercury. In summary, LCD LCD panels using LED as backlight have three main advantages compared with LCD panels using CCFL(cold cathode fluorescent lamp) as light source.

1.      First, the thickness of the LCD with LED backlight is small.

The LED backlight is composed of many raster-like semiconductors, and each "lattice" has an LED semiconductor, so that the LED backlight successfully achieves the planarization of the light source. The flat light source not only has excellent brightness uniformity, but also does not require complex optical path design, so that the thickness of the LCD LCD panel can be thinner, but also has higher reliability and stability. Thinner LCD panels mean less weight and better mobility for laptops. In general, the thickness of the LED screen notebook panel is about 1/2 of the thickness of the ordinary CCFL screen pen.

2.      Second, longer life, lower power consumption, but also more environmentally friendly.

Some data show that the LCD screen alone accounts for about 30% of the total energy consumption of the laptop computer, and the use of LED backlighting system can greatly reduce energy consumption. It saves 48% more power than the usual CCFL type LCD screen. And LED does not use the element harmful to the environment mercury, quite environmentally friendly, and CCFL is mercury-containing. Led are very environmentally friendly.

LED also has a big advantage, that is, the service life of up to 100,000 hours, even if the continuous use of 10 hours a day, it can be used continuously for 27 years. Taking SONY's TX series as an example, compared with the VAIO T series using CCFT LCD, the thickness has been reduced from 9mm to 4.5mm, the weight has been reduced by 26%, the battery life has been extended by one hour, and the screen pressure resistance has been more than doubled. Because the traditional LCD lamp needs to increase the power supply voltage to 530V, the lamp can work normally, and the LCD screen using LED technology can work normally as long as the voltage of 40V, so that the power can be more efficient use, to reach 9 hours of ultra-long battery life.

3.      Third, the color performance of the LED backlight screen is far better than CCFL.

The higher refresh frequency makes the LED have better performance in video, the single element reaction speed of the LED display is 1000 times that of the LCD screen, and it can also be looked after under strong light, and adapt to the low temperature of minus 40 degrees. RGB LED light source greatly improves color performance; On the other hand, the original CCFL backlight does not perform well in terms of color levels due to problems such as color purity. This results in LCD being inferior to CRT in terms of grayscale and color transition. According to tests, CCFL backlighting can only achieve 78% of the NTSC color area, while LED backlighting can easily achieve more than 100% of the NTSC color area. In terms of color expression and level transition, LED backlighting also has significant advantages.
